Passage from Today’s Church Gospel Reading:
“Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God’s only Son.
This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil.
Those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up.
But those who do what is true come to the light in order that the light may show that what they did was in obedience to God”(John 3:18-21).
GOD’S BLESSING GUARANTEES OBEDIENCE
I believe that those who do not believe in our Lord Jesus Christ as God’s only son are swimming in the waters of the law of retribution; the law agrees to let punishment meet the supposed balancing crime. This goes to say we should not deceive ourselves; “no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant”(Galatians 6:7).
We cannot rationalise the understanding of God’s son in human clothing as Christ lived, it’s beyond human comprehension.
Forgiveness exists but what cannot be forgiven is doubt against the power of the Holy Spirit that is in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Evil lives in darkness and avoids the light of exposure and such results in condemnation. Truth may be bitter but it comes with the light of acceptance and exposure that shines on obedience pleasing to God. It may come with sacrifice but in God is the blessing that guarantees obedience.
AND in PRAYING
Prayer is propelled from the heart where it is given the energy of direction. It is expected to get to God in humility and contrition.
We pray to God to continue to guide and lead us to salvation. And for those who continue not to believe in God’s son, “If they do not change their ways, God will sharpen his sword. He bends his bow and makes it ready”(Psalm 7:12), such is the condemnation waiting for them. May our prayers find favour in God and clear us from condemnation.
AND in THANKSGIVING
In thanking God we must come in praise knowing His greatness. This is the reason we must acknowledge and say, “O LORD, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!”(Psalm 8:9). We thank God today and always.
