Passage from Today’s Church Reading( Gospel Reading): John 4: 46-53
“Then Jesus went back to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. A government official was there whose son was sick in Capernaum.
When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to go to Capernaum and heal his son, who was about to die.
Jesus said to him, ‘None of you will ever believe unless you see miracles and wonders.’
‘Sir, ‘replied the official, “come with me before my child dies.’
Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live!’ The man believed Jesus’ words and went.
On his way home his servants met him with the news, ‘Your boy is going to live!’
He asked them what time it was when his son got better, and they answered, ‘It was one o’clock yesterday afternoon when the fever left him.’
Then the father remembered that it was at that very hour when Jesus had told him, *Your son will live.* So he and all his family believed”(John 4:46-53)
Keep Faith:
DOUBT DESTROYS RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
The power in Our Lord Jesus Christ draws from the power in God, He is God the son. Those who believe in Him are attracted by the power of God that gives faith.
Faith is the gracious gift of God that makes us to believe without doubt what is revealed by God; God revealed His son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faith is also the beacon of hope that exists to secure the enabling perimeter walls of hope. It transforms doubt into confidence, and drives human mind in guiding it through thoughts that align with emotion to act. It is that unquestioning belief that could move mountain, remember the parable of the mustard seed(Matthew13: 31-32). The official here had faith.
Believe it, faith requires action as the man insists, ‘Sir, ‘replied the official, “come with me before my child dies.’ That was the registration that moved Christ to act, “Go, your son will live”. And the man believed. When we go to God with faith and clean hands we will obtain reliefs that come at His will. Avoid doubt, it destroys relationship with God.
AND in PRAYING
Prayer commits our person and soul to God; most times we make commitments we abandon with time, and yet God is willing to forgive us. And when the limits come we miss them, it is this condition that escalates into condemnation. Remember the simple agreement with God in Our Lord’s prayer, “forgive us our sins as we forgive those we trespass against us.” Remember this always and pray, “hear me, LORD, and be merciful! Help me, LORD”(Psalm 30:10). May God listen to our prayers, Amen.
AND in THANKSGIVING
Thank God always for He is good. Thanksgiving must be in private and public and rich in faith; and with that we proclaim, ” I will not be silent; I will sing praise to you. LORD, you are my God; I will give you thanks forever.”(Psalm 30:12). Indeed, faith, hope and charity come together to establish the meaning of thanksgiving. May God sustain this in us. Amen.
