GOVERNOR UZODIMMA’S RE-ELECTION IS A WIN BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE OF IMO STATE
Imo people, Ndi Imo, have re-elected His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma as the Governor of Imo State for the next four years. The win is by all and for all.
In 2012 after President Barack Obama won his re-election bid as United States of America President for another four years, the London Guardian newspaper carried an article titled, “Obama had a lucky charm – do you use them too?” The article was a characterized imposition of thoughts that made rounds that President Obama couldn’t have made it so smooth and clean in returning to the White House without an extra-natural support. It turned out, the paper concluded that “good campaigning and strong message about the economy were decidedly important factors in the election.”
The Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma’s win strikes a chord with President Obama’s re-election. In the history of Imo State this governorship election has placed an unprecedented record in history, it’s the first time a governorship candidate has won, with exceptional margin of support, in all the 27 local government areas in the state. The “lucky charm” of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was contained in his sincerity, renewed hope mandate, understanding of a workable campaign strategy, knowledge and interpretation of inclusiveness in shared prosperity and work accomplished. Put simply, it is summed up in placing governance in cherished accomplishments. His re-election was a vote on confidence.
Rick Warren in his book, “What on earth am I for”, wrote: ” before you were born, God planned this moment in your life.” This is true and it is a confirmatory assurance of divine support on endeavours apportioned to persons; interestingly one’s divine support on a prescribed endeavour uploads without notice and knowledge. It is only God that gives power as He chooses, in merit and will.
In all, the existing Renewed Hope, roped around the 3R mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery, is central in this success; it takes doubt away, placing agreeable conduct of faith to rest on the promise of fulfillment and God’s approval.
The pledge placed on Imo Charter of Equity is a reminder on what we can refer to as loading hope. And those who contested the election with Governor Hope Uzodimma are aware that scramble may erase the footnote of the consensus involved. It is important to allow the mandate of Renewed Hope to progress as accepted by the people of Imo State. Contentions and aggrieved legal tussles may open up wrangling and unnecessary distortions that may serve no good at the end.
The win came good this way because of the insistence of Imo people, Ndi Imo, not to be moved and distracted by the convulsive wordy disturbances coming from those who were not even resident in Imo State in the first place; they were riding on presumptuous stance and making desperate efforts to wire verbal cables of hate through an impenetrable wall, the wall of Imo people’s will. The resistance was well fortified and unknown to them Imo people were busy at the same time consolidating their resolve and tying their robes of solidarity in support of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma’s re-election bid.
There is no doubt that the fabricated and monstrous narrations about happenings in Imo State before the governorship election were orchestrated to manipulate people’s consciences and sharpen them as arrows of hate but the sheaths and their contents were miraculously kept away by the power of God, attracted by the people’s will. Nothing is more progressive and impressive than a committed positive will nurtured by determination. This was what played out on the day of Imo State governorship election on Saturday, 11th November, 2023.
In an earlier article on “Governor Uzodimma’s re-election and the agenda of Renewed Hope”, published here on 10 November 2023, this writer pointed out that the solution to the tasks ahead was predicated on the support of Imo people, Ndi Imo, which was stamped and delivered following the outcome of the Imo State governorship election. The support was and remains overwhelming, it is now rolled out with the embankment of trust and confidence.
As we unite and blend our feelings of oneness we share the urge of commitment for a greater Imo State where the joy of free association will remain in promoting peace.
This win belongs to Imo people, let’s come together and agree with our Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, who in his acceptance speech stated thus: “This collective victory is for the good of the people and the progress of our state.”
