Passage from Today’s Church Readings:

“When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes in dismay and exclaimed, how can the king of Syria expect me to cure this man? Does he think that I am God, with the power of life and death? It’s plain that he is trying to start a quarrel with me”(2 Kings 5:7).

TRIAL PERSUADES GOD’S RESPONSE

Trial in life runs a vexing marathon with thought, it’s human and in it there is a convulsion in the race that could bring torment to the unprepared. To count on defeatism as an alibi, to embrace a cold approach in confronting defeat and to surrender to cowed feelings may lead to error of judgement. When trial comes, look at the underlying factors and promptings; exercise caution and run to God for discernment.

Israel and her king were under God’s shelter at the time of the encounter in the above reading, the prophet Elisha confirmed this to the king: “why are you so upset? Send the man to me, and I’ll show him that there is a prophet in Israel”(2 Kings 5:8). And that manifested in Naaman’s miraculous healing that took place.

It’s the King’s trial here that persuaded  God’s response. In life, trials are burdens that accumulate worrisome feelings and actions, they do attract God’s response when they are sieved through faith and confidence in God.

When trials come it is important to see that abandonment to reclusive surrender is not the right choice; what brings meaningful recourse is thrust that trust in God. Rise to the task in approaching God for His guide and support that come through unalloyed faith.

AND in PRAYING

Trials do come and in our vulnerability we succumb to the pressure of errors of thought and action; we need God’s grace to combat trials in all forms. We need to pray to God to grant us the resilience to confront them and equip us with His armour of defence at all times. Pray to God today.

AND in THANKSGIVING

Every account in life must place God first,  no life exists without His grace.

We must thank God for providing His grace to go with us in confronting trials and temptations. When we walk through the path of survival the meaning of thanksgiving becomes clearer; remember to thank God all the time.
