The Knights of St. John  International, Nigeria, acting in wholesome dedication to the call of the Noble Order have brought relief to the recent flood victims in Nigeria by donating money to support them. The  Catholic Ancient and Noble Order calls on the Federal Government to declare the situation a National Disaster.

Reporting this in Nigeria Catholic Network, the indication of the Knights of St. John International, Nigeria, is to bring in place the corporal work of mercy in charity, by the donation of Six Million Naira, stating that the donation is meant to go directly to the victims, and presented through the six Catholic Dioceses in Nigeria deeply affected.

The donation is contained in a letter, dated November 1, 2022, addressed to the President of  Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, and signed by the Supreme Subordinate President, Major General Remy Uche, the Supreme subordinate Treasurer, Brig. Gen. Solomon Obeakameh and the Supreme subordinate Secretary, Brig. Gen. Cletus Ntong. In the letter the Catholic Socio-Religious Order expressed “deep sympathy with all the victims of the flood disaster that recently ravaged many communities within our territorial Jurisdiction.”

The body of Catholic Knights that embraces the content of a formidable Ladies Auxiliary  and family outfits including the juniors and cadets stated in the letter: “We very much appreciate their pains which visibly manifested in the loss of life, valuable property, and displacement of abode”, and urge the Federal Government of Nigeria to “declare this ugly occurrence as a National Disaster and muster appropriate action to cushion the ravaging effects as well as invite international communities and humanitarian organizations for speedy interventions and aids.”

Major General Remy Uche, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, is the Commanding Supreme Subordinate President of the Knights of St. John International, Nigeria.

 Noble Sister Chinwe Mgbajiaka is Supreme Subordinate Auxiliary President for the ladies in the family of the Noble Catholic Order in Nigeria.
